Invited by “Urban Dialogue”, Jonathan Woetzel, co-chair of the Urban China Initiative (UCI) and director of McKinsey & Company; and Herbert Pohl, leader of McKinsey’s infrastructure practice in Middle East & Africa, joined Li Tie, director of the China Center for Urban Development (CCUD) of the National Development and Reform Commission, to discuss China's urbanization from an international perspective.

The Urban China Initiative (UCI) hosted its quarterly Urban Leaders Roundtable on March 18 in Beijing, featuring seventeen leading figures from the public, private and academic sectors heatedly discussing China’s infrastructure productivity issues. Herbert Pohl, director of McKinsey & Company and a leader of its infrastructure practice in Middle East & Africa, and Ren Hong, deputy director of the Department of Basic Industries under the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) delivered keynote speeches.

Standing out in tough competition, five research proposals are awarded by the Urban China Initiative as 2013 Grant Projects and three are to be incorporated into UCI flagship researches.
