Columbia University’s ties with modern China date back to the nineteenth century, when it was among the first U.S. universities to admit Chinese students. The establishment of Columbia Global Centers | East Asia in 2009 represents a milestone for Columbia University. The Center has already helped establish extensive partnerships with the Chinese academic community and has also engaged in a wide variety of programs.

The School of Public Policy and Management (SPPM) of Tsinghua University was founded in the year 2000. As the first graduate school in public administration in China, the mission of the school is to foster a new generation of leadership in Chinese and global public affairs, to generate policy impacts for public benefits, and to pursue academic excellence in public policy and management research. The School’s long-term objective is to become a world-class institution that actively engages in teaching, research, and consulting in global public affairs.
